Mission Church, based in Bloomingdale, IL, is committed to helping people find and follow Christ through its core values of gathering differently, growing intentionally, and going missionally. Looking to expand their digital reach, they partnered with PWI to create a custom mobile app for their church community.
The Challenge
Strategizing the Mobile App and Web Portal Flow
Mission Church needed a complete redesign and technical overhaul of their existing mobile app and web portal. The goal was to build a more intuitive, user-friendly experience that made it easy to access video content, reading plans, and event information. Additionally, the new solution needed to replace their Studio C admin system, support PCO single sign-on (OAuth), and enable content and notification management through a centralized web portal.
The Solution
Media Management Made Simple
PWI designed and developed a modern mobile app and a companion web portal, all within an 18-week timeline. The app featured organized media pages, location-based PCO check-in alerts, Bible reading plans with multiple translations, and group Bible reading and messaging capabilities. The custom-built admin web portal allowed church staff to manage app content—including Bible readings, devotionals, and events—and send push notifications to segmented user groups. The design was inspired by Mission Church’s current branding to maintain familiarity while improving functionality and user experience.
The Results
A User Friendly Media Library
The result was a fully integrated mobile and web experience tailored to Mission Church’s needs. The streamlined design and robust feature set made it easier for users to engage with church content and events, while the backend portal gave administrators full control over app updates and communications. The project successfully replaced the previous Studio C system and elevated the church’s digital presence with a scalable, modern solution.
